This recipe came out of a happy coincidence – a few weeks ago we got one of those Harry & David gift baskets with a dozen pears; after eating a ton of them, we had a few that were past their prime. We’re a strict no waste household so we used this as an opportunity to concoct this compote!

While we are strong proponents of savory brunches, sometimes its nice to mix it up with something sweet – we’ve made this a couple times since including for our very first Mother’s Day today with the little human and the pup! Not gonna lie, between the two of them – we ate this stone cold, but it would be best served warm🙂

Tips & Tricks
- This compote is on the thicker side, if you prefer a runnier version, you can add 3-4 tbsp of apple juice at the beginning when cooking the pears
- Optional to add, but we love to put in a pinch of pepper, it gives a slight heat that perfectly complements the sweetness of the fruit
